Prayer
Requests within our Pastoral Community
|
|
There are many needs in our
pastoral community so we felt that we should share these prayer
requests with you so that we can all be praying together.
Please continue to pray for retired Pastor
Bob McRoberts (who served at Calvary Baptist Church on
Main St. in Ottawa from 1990 to 2010) and was diagnosed with
prostate cancer in mid-2010. Pray that the Lord's hand will be upon him
over the next year.
Lorne Likely with
Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. After being treated for 18 months
for an infection in his jaw, Lorne learned that he has cancer in his
mouth. Praise the Lord, Lorne has
completed his radiation and is gaining some strength and is able to do
more things. Please pray that he will have a good summer and enjoy as
many of his favourite activities as possible.
Pastor Barry Boucher from The Life Centre: Please pray for Barry, Joyce, his family and the
entire medical staff as they await the results of the PSA tests on June
8th. These tests will determine if he can start radiation treatment. Pray
that the reading is zero. That would mean that the
cancer has not spread. Click here to read Barry's blog for updates on Barry's
progress.
Pastor Rick Lamothe from Sequoia Community Church: Please continue to keep Rick and Donna in your
prayers. Rick has finished 40 days of phototherapy treatments
with very good results. Further treatment plans will be determined
based on what the cancer does as his treatment is not a cure but is
intended to kill off bad cells already produced and presenting on the
skin. Our prayer would be for healing or
remission of the disease.
If you know of other pastors or pastoral families who
need prayer, please forward them to Janice by email at One
Way Ministries.

Anger...How do we Handle it?
June 17 - 18, 2011
Smiths Falls Free Methodist Church
Anger is an emotion that everyone experiences.
Expressed and used in godly ways it can be a wonderful motivator.
Expressed in ungodly ways it can become life controlling with
devastating consequences. This course is of benefit to all of us but
perhaps particularly to those who know they struggle with anger. The
foundational teaching identifies the specific roots of anger, while the
practical teaching on the rightful expression of anger shows how to
bring this powerful emotion back under Godly control. Because many
people have problems with anger, the teaching of this course will help
those in the caring professions and those involved in prayer ministry
to help others.
Please email
or phone 613-273-8700 to reserve your spot.

The Modular School Part A
Deliverance
Ministry
June 24 - 25, 2011
Community
Christian Reform Church
Deliverance was an integral part of the healing
ministry of Jesus and of the great commission He gave to the Church.
This course examines deliverance from both scriptural and practical
perspectives. It explains how demonic footholds can be established in a
person's life and presents key principles by which captives may be set
free.
The course is designed to train and equip those who are called to the
healing ministry and will greatly benefit all those involved in
spiritual leadership within the Body of Christ.
If you're interested, please contact Ellel
Ministries at 613-273-8700 or visit their website.

Global Day of Prayer 2011
|
|
Sunday,
June 12th
A New Season For Global Day of Prayer
Facing a world in crisis, the Global Day of Prayer is an
opportunity to encourage your congregation to pray for people around
the globe. The GDOP movement has gathered Christians all over the
world in order to seek God for His Kingdom and Christ's
transforming life throughout the earth.
In this new season GDOP will no longer aim at the goal
of having organized events in every single country of the world.
Instead, the goal will be to increase the number of gatherings on
Pentecost Sunday (June 12th) in smaller settings, such as local
churches, family homes and businesses in lieu of stadiums and
assembly halls.
For more details on the GDOP and information on how to
set up your own event, please click here.

Crest Leadership Training in
Ottawa?
|
|

The CREST Leadership Center is committed to helping mid-life adults find
clarity for the second half of life. Research shows that
your best contribution will likely come after the age of 40. But
less than one-third will find that significant contribution - most will
flounder.
The CREST Certificate Program offers that
development opportunity in a very effective way for adult learners to
make deep life changes. In 16 days over two years, you will be
guided in a deep and ordered reflection that brings clarity to your
life and leadership.
Further to the Certificate, you may earn a Masters in Christian Leadership degree.
people are saying about CREST. Interested in a Doctor of Ministry or
a new Sabbatical model?
Do you think there are 15 midlife leaders in the
Ottawa area that would like to do this CREST journey together?
Would you like to be one of them?
Would you be willing to invite others so we can
establish a cohort of 15?
Please respond with your thoughts on this - we
need to hear from you in order to have a sense of whether we should
bring CREST to Ottawa. If there is sufficient interest, we would
like to launch a cohort February 1 - 3, 2012.
Please visit CREST's website for more
information or contact them via email if you are
interested in the Ottawa Training.
